Receiving a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD) can feel liberating, allowing you to get the support you deserve and find answers to your behaviours.
What is an ADHD assessment?
ADHD assessments play a crucial role in identifying you strengths, weaknesses, and individual learning needs. These assessments can provide valuable insights into your cognitive functioning, academic skills, social and emotional development, and behaviour.
During the assessment process, you will speak to our clinicians and do a series of tests and questionnaires so that we can best determine how to support you and if you fit an ADHD diagnosis.
Comprehensive cognitive testing designed to detect ADHD
Our testing includes assessments of
- Executive Functioning, including inhibition and updating
- Reasoning and planning
- Memory, including working memory and long term memory
- Attention
- Coordination
- and many more areas.
The ADHD and mental heath component
Psychoeducational assessments are comprehensive in that they also measure ADHD and mental health. Psychoeducational assessments are preferred for individuals under 25 or within school as they aid in understanding their overall cognitive functioning, identifying learning difficulties, and developing appropriate educational interventions.
Most schools require the report that accompanies this assessment to provide your child with learning accommodations.
